Yahoo DFS Gets Licensd by UKGC
Following DraftKings and FanDuel, Yahoo has been given a gambling license by the UKGC which will allow it to offer their DFS product in the UK. Until Now Yahoo DFS was only available in the UK and Canada.
Much like DraftKings and FanDuel, Yahoo is looking to expand in overseas markets outside the U.S. which is still a market where there is not absolute clarity as to the legal status on a state by state basis.
With the recent merger of DraftKings and FanDuel, it will take a major player like Yahoo with all its resources to be able to complete again the behemoth that DraftKings and FanDuel have created.
Players will be able to participate in contests in various sports including NFL, NBA, football etc. Liquidity will be shared among the UK, USA and Canada with UK players able to access all the tournaments.
The official launch was released via Twitter when Yahoo confirmed with Sports media. Yahoo has been largely quiet and not overly aggressive with their marketing of DFS. They have been observing from the sidelines while DraftKings and FanDuel have been the subject to legal challenges over the last year which nearly saw the entire DFS industry come to an abrupt halt.
