WSOP and 888Poker To Pool Player Base In New Jersey
The online gambling market in New Jersey was potentially worth up to $1 billion annually according to its biggest supporters Gov. Chris Christie. After a full year of operations this has proven to be a “slight” exaggeration as the numbers show that revenues only reached about 10 percent of this.
This has led to online poker operators like Ultimate Gaming being forced to pull out of the Garden State citing viability issues. In order for an online poker market to be viable in the long run their needs to be a large player base.
WSOP.com and 888poker.com have announced that as from Monday both online gambling sites will start sharing players which will enable them to offer bigger prizes. As the second year of operations begin din New Jersey, both online poker sites are hoping that the combined player base will result in a much more sustainable market for both brands.
Caesars Interactive who operate WSOP.com said that they believe that the move will increase the guaranteed prizes for tournaments which will also result in more real money players entering cash games. The combined sites will begin sharing $130,00 in guaranteed tournaments each week which they hope will attract many new players from New Jersey.
