Switzerland To Offer Land Based Casinos Option For Online Casino
Switzerland is just one of many countries where there is no online gambling legislation which has led to foreign operators cashing in on Swiss players wanting to gamble.
Like so many other regions around the globe authorities in Switzerland have come to the realization that a regulated online gambling industry would benefit the existing 21 brick and mortar casino who are losing out to unregulated foreign operators. The government has now proposed new legislation that would enable the operators of the country’s brick and mortar casinos to offer online gambling sites but not until 2019. While the proposed bill was welcomed by the Swiss Federation of Casinos, the launch date of 2019 is way too late for them.
The proposed legislation will be player friendly in that winnings will not be taxed. The new plans for regulation online gambling in Switzerland were welcomed by the casino lobby who point out that profits have fallen by 30% since 2007. The casino lobby is however calling for a wider scope of games to be legalized including lottery games, sports betting and poker. They are also quick to point out their current experience of implementing safeguards should enable them to offer these products in the online world with no problems.
