Sky Bet Bolsters Daily Fantasy Sports Offering with Dribble Partnership
We reported on daily fantasy sports giant FanDuel pulling out of the UK market to focus more on their main revenue stream which is the US market. Many raised the question if DFS is viable outside of the US and most believe that the reason for its popularity in the US is solely based on the fact that sports betting is still illegal in most of the US but given the opportunity most would abandon DFS and pursue the real thing.
With this in mind it is surprising that Sky Betting & Gaming have announced a joint venture with DFS operator Dribble. In terms of the partnership Dribble will fall under the Sky Bet brand and will bolster their real money fantasy sports content which currently includes Soccer Saturday Super 6, Sky Sports Fantasy Football, Sky Sports Fantasy Six a Side and Sporting Life Pick 7.
MD of Sky Betting & Gaming Ted Moss commented on the joint venture,” We’ve been watching the Daily Fantasy market flourish in the US, this will be our way of understanding how big this type of product could be on our shores.” Dribble is currently only available on iOS and is looking to attract DFS fans who find other operators too complicated.
CEO of Dribble Nicholas Wright gave his stance on the partnership,” Having a household betting name like Sky Bet behind us shows that a game where fantasy players are actually rewarded for playing is the way forward. This is a big win for daily fantasy in the UK & we’re excited to work with such a forward-thinking brand that challenges the betting space.”
Head of Sky Games Joe Mirtaheri was complimentary of Dribble’s approach to DFS and said,” Dribble’s fresh and disruptive approach to Fantasy Football has really impressed both early users and internal staff. I’m extremely excited to see how our partnership grows as we further understand the UK and international market and create amazing experiences for users.”
