Rational Group Hires Former Zynga Executive For Social Gaming Push

The managing company of PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker, Rational Group have made an interesting move into the social casino market. They have hired the former Zynga executive Lloyd Melnick as director of social gaming.

PokerStars under their parent company Amaya Gaming are in the process of re-entering the U.S. online poker market and are looking for any tool that can enhance their brand and create a larger user base for their real money products when finally permitted to do so in markets like the U.S.
This is where social casino games come into ay as the free-to-play versions are identical to the real money options and the changeover can be done at the touch of a switch.

Melnick will be responsible for building free-to-play games with the PokerStars and Full tilt brands. His experience in Zynga included senior director fir Zynga Social casino as well as Zynga’s “Hit It Rich! Casino Slots.”

Melnick was delighted at the opportunity to join the Rational Group and said,” The opportunity was irresistible because of Rational’s focus on the player. It has grown to be the leading real-money gaming poker product because of a laser focus on making their players happy. This customer-centric philosophy has not yet been tried in the social space and I find it incredibly compelling.” There have been a lot of new appointment in the Rational Group of late including a new COO Israel Rosenthal and Gino Appiotti who will take the role of CMO.
