PokerStars Polls Former US Based Players Ahead Of DFS Launch
The imminent entry of PokerStars into the much talked about Daily Fantasy Sports market is gaining ground as they have reportedly already begun polling their former US based clients in email campaigns.
PokerStars hope to launch their DFS offering by the start of the NFL Season that begins in September. Amaya’s CEO made their intentions clear earlier this year when he announced their plans to enter the DFS Arena in the second half of 2015. He said,” We have also taken the strategic decision to enter the daily fantasy sports category and are pursuing parallel tracks of internal development and strategic acquisition. We expect to provide more details on this strategy in the second half of 2015 but see a clear crossover from poker and daily fantasy sports.”
According to reports PokerStars have asked their former US players to participate in a survey aimed at discovering their interest in Daily Fantasy Sports. There is still uncertainty if PokerStars will be developing a DFS offering from scratch or combining it with an existing service like that of DraftDay. PokerStars are still in the process of entering the US online market after their years of been shutout. The legal option that DFS offers for real money gambling is an ideal way for them to market their brand again in the U.S.
Online poker audiences and that of daily fantasy sports fans are very similar and anyone watching the World Series of Poker (WSOP) could not miss the massive signage of DraftKings on display.
