New Jersey Sets Online Gambling Revenue Record In March
Online gambling revenues in the state of New Jersey reached an all-time high record of $21.7 million for the month of March. This beats the previous record of $18.8 million reached in January his year. This impressive number is a 40.2% year-on-year increase from the $15.5 million recorded in March 2016.
Overall online gambling revenues are up 32.1% for the year-to-date compared to the same period in 2016. Total casino win is also up 6.7% to $200.1 million for the month of March corresponding to the same period last year.
These latest numbers released by the Division of Gaming Enforcement represent the positive trend of gambling in the Garden State. This has been long in the waiting as 2014 and 2015 saw turmoil in the New Jersey Market with many online gambling operators shutting down operations. Overall the online gambling market performance has also provided a much needed boost for the brick and mortar casinos who desperately need a boost as 5 of the 12 state casinos were closed in the state.
The top performing casino was the Golden Nugget with $6.17m which was a record for them. The Borgata came in at second place with $4.35m in March of which $3.7m was from the casino vertical and $650k was from Poker. Third place was Resorts Digital Gaming who also recorded their best month with $4.2m. Fourth place was the Tropicana who brought in $3.86 million followed by Caesars Interactive Entertainment new Jersey with $3.15m.
