Mark Cuban Invests In Daily Fantasy Analytics Firm Fantasy Labs
While many are distancing themselves from the daily fantasy sports due to the current legal uncertainty in the US, there are those who are bullish and are investing in the industry. Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is one of those who believe in the future of the industry despite the fact that states like New York and Illinois who are doing everything to ensure that they are not allowed to operate there.
Cuban has invested in daily fantasy sports analytics company Fantasy Labs who provide subscriber’s data that help players track current trends and Las Vegas odds. Cuban said in a statement, “The explosive growth of fantasy sports, and its involvement with new categories of competition like eSports, increases the need for high-end resources like the platform offered by Fantasy Labs. I’m excited to be involved with a company that is working to advance an industry that is poised for huge growth.”
Cuban has been outspoken as to their hypocrisy of states who have jumped on the anti DFS bandwagon. He believes that the uncertainty will be cleared up in the U.S. soon and that the overseas markets are still widely open for this sector to expand and grow. Cuban joins the likes of NBA Commissioner Adam Silver who has called for a regulated fantasy sports market. He was quoted as saying,” My view is that daily fantasy should be a regulated industry in New York and elsewhere, and I think ultimately that should be a decision for the voters.”
Co-founder of Fantasy Labs was delighted at Cuban’s investment and said,” It’s good to see Mark Cuban remain bullish on fantasy sports and eSports analytics.”
