Lottoland Expands Services With First Lottery Messenger Service Licence in Gibraltar
Gibraltar based lottoland has been making waves in the last few years and has become a serious competitor for the likes of the UK national lottery and ZEAL network. While only established in 2013, Lottoland already have over 5 million global customer and generated €300m last year.
Until now Lottoland have offered a variety of services which includes the ability to offer customers the chance to bet on the outcome of more than 25 lotteries around the globe. Their latest addition is their securing a license in Gibraltar for lottery messenger services. In terms of the license offered by the Gibraltar Licensing Authority, Lottoland will be in the position to officially resell tickets for global lottery products.
According to chief strategy officer Elicia Bravo, the license will give lottoland the ability to compete in markets where the state-owned lotteries are unwilling to give up their monopolies and do not recognize lottery betting.
Bravo went on to state that the messenger service will offer more choices to customers in many global markets. He also said,” Furthermore, it also underlines our strategy of becoming an online lottery operator with the full range of products—including lottery betting, lottery messenger, instant lotteries as well as B2B and B2G services. The fact that we’ve been granted the first fully recognizable and legally binding license in this area, highlights our commitment to lead through innovation as well as our determination to do things the right way.”
Lottoland are now seen as a serious competitor for UK National Lottery operator Camelot whose CEO Andy Duncan who openly said that their sales were down 6% as a result of “ direct, often aggressive competition” from bet-on- lottery firms ( like lottoland) claiming to offer the same products as them.
