Ladbrokes Granted Approval For Betting Watch App
The much hyped release of the Apple Watch on April 24 is yet another mobile channel for gambling companies to cash in on. Mobile gambling is taking another twist with wearable device like the Apple Watch set to become a much sought after fashion accessory.
Britain’s second largest bookmaker Ladbrokes has had a difficult few years with tax levies both on fixed odds betting terminals and the point of consumption tax eating into their profits. This has resulted in them having to find alternative markets to compensate for falling revenues.
Australia has been a strong growth market for Ladbrokes as the Aussies love their gambling and in particular sports betting. It comes therefore as no surprise that Ladbrokes Australia are claiming to become the first betting company to have a wearable app device on the Apple Watch. Chief Information Officer of Ladbrokes Australia, Scott Hutchens was delighted to announce that they have received approval from Apple for its betting app.
He went on to say that Ladbrokes continues to focus on innovation for their punters and already over 50% of their total turnover is from mobile.
He said,” The Apple Watch becomes another device to engage with our customers for more than just novelty. The Apple Watch extension communicates with the main Ladbrokes iOS App and will enable customers to actually bet directly from their wrist. It is unprecedented design and the simplest betting interface in the world.”
