Kindred Group Reportedly Considering Danske Spil Acquisition
The Kindred Group seems to be on an acquisition trail. Only just having announced their acquisition of Gibraltar based online gambling operator 32red, there are rumors that they are interested in acquiring parts of Denmark’s former state monopoly Danske Spil.
Last April the Danish government said it was considering selling parts Danske Spil’s online betting, casino and poker operations. According to a report in Borsen last week, Kindred has offered to pay up to $571 million for Danske Spil’s online operations.
Danish Finance minister was quick to downplay the possible acquisition saying that it would be in the best interest of the Nation for Danske Spil to remain state controlled.
Kindred group director Kim Oleson was more upbeat and said that despite the fact that Denmark was opening up their online market to international operators, there were still significant competitive advantages inherent in Danske Spil.
