FanDuel To Cut 55 Jobs In Florida Office
In another clear sign of the turmoil facing the daily fantasy sports market, FanDuel have announced more job cuts. According to reports in the Orland Business Journal, FanDuel will be cutting 55 jobs in their Florida office which is more than two thirds of the employees. What makes that even sadder is the fact that many of those staff being cut are part of the 38 people FanDuel hired from Zynga’s Orlando Office last May after they were sacked there.
The layoffs will take place effective from April 10. Employees will receive a two month severance package and FanDuel will assist them in finding new employment. In a statement FanDuel Said,” As we plan for the future, we are building out our customer service operations in Florida and will continue to hire for select roles throughout the company. We did have a group of developers in the Orlando office that were focused on R&D for ancillary games and applications that we will not be investing in moving forward.”
Anyone following the DFS sector can only ask themselves how long these operators can sustain a seemingly endless assault on all fronts while continuing to grow their customer base.
