DraftKings Acquires MMA Fantasy Site Kountermove
For a change DFS operator DraftKings offered some good news to their investors and overall image as they announced they will be acquiring MMA fantasy operator Kountermove. This latest move follows DraftKings partnership with the UFC and pretty much cements their position in this highly popular sport.
The exact terms of the deal were not disclosed but it is believed that the 30k registered users of Kountermove are already being redirected to DraftKings site to transfer their accounts. DraftKings claims to have over 200,000 MMA players and is confident their Kountermove Acquisition will strengthen this player base.
In a statement DraftKings founder Matt Kalish told MMAjunkie said,” We had been looking for opportunities to grow our presence in combat sports, so it was a very logical fit for us to come together.”
Co-founder of Kountermove Brian Knapp commented on the deal and said,” We’ve gotten to know the DraftKings team over the past year-and-a-half since they entered the market, and being the leaders in fantasy for combat sports, really looked to them as a partner for growing the overall space of MMA. We at Kountermove knew that the real way to have many, many more MMA fans enjoying fantasy MMA worldwide was to partner with the leader in overall daily fantasy.”
