Caesars and 888 To Launch Real Money Poker By July 6
We recently reported on the landmark launch of Ultimate Gaming’s real money online poker in the state of Nevada. This historic precedent is soon to be followed by Caesars Entertainment who own the WSOP brand. In an announcement today at the 44th annual poker party in Las Vegas WSOP spokesperson Seth Palansky announced that sometime before the main event gets underway on July 6 Caesars Interactive will be launching a WSOP branded real money online poker site.
As soon as the Nevada Gaming Board gives them final approval Caesars intends to offer online players the chance to play for real cash if they are residents in Nevada or are residing there for the duration of the tournament. The ideal of a satellite tournament has been mentioned as a playing format.
The competition for real money online poker is fierce and it came as no surprise that WSOP executive director Ty Stewart made a snide remark about Ultimate Poker who still boast the title of being the first licensed online poker site in Nevada. He was quick to point out the fact that the marker was ready for a “first-class product”. He also threw in a low blow when he pointed out the fact that on one of the Ultimate Poker screenshots there were two nines of spades in a deck,” There’s only one nine of spades in our deck.” There are, however, three eights in the software that will be powering WSOP.com.”
