Broadway Gaming Latest Operator To Be Fined By UKGC For Misleading Advertsing
The UK Gambling Commission has been on the war path in the last 12 months with some unprecedented fines being imposed on operators violating regulations. From 888, Ladbrokes, BGO and lottoland there is no doubt that the ongoing pressure from politicians to track down on irresponsible gambling practices is been shown in the UKGC’s actions.
The latest fine handed down by UKGC is to Broadway Gaming for a hefty £100,000 for featuring “misleading advertisements” on five of it’s gambling websites. In June 2016 the UK’s Advertising Standards Authority upheld a complaint against Broadways’ Butler Bingo site for an advert that was misleading. The advert stated Deposit £10, Play £35 was found to be misleading due to it not detailing the terms and conditions.
Other shortcomings were also found on four other Broadway Sites and the UKGC found that Broadway had violated the UKGC license conditions as well as UK advertising codes.
Broadway Gaming accepted that their adverts on their websites did not meet its social responsibility nor meet its commitments. The largest fine dished out by UKGC was in August this year where 888 had to pay £7.8m for failing to protect customers on their websites.
