Alloa Couple Win £1 Million More Than Expected In Lottery Win
For some people winning a few hundred pounds on a lottery ticket is considered a “major” win and are grateful for their luck. For an Alloa couple James and Catherine Paterson they were having a toast to celebrate what they thought was a nice £986 win.
Being pensioners the couple need every penny they could get their hands on. They purchased the lotto ticket at Tesco Extra in Alloa and thought they had matched five numbers. Lucky for them their son Craig checked the ticket and reveled that their lucky dip ticket had actually all the winning numbers which meant that they had won over £1 million.
Catherine, a retired school cleaner said,” I just couldn’t believe it, I was shaking. I had been excited when I thought I had won a few hundred pounds but to be told it was over £1 million was just beyond belief. We were all sitting there in our pyjamas in a state of shock – not your usual Sunday morning. It still hasn’t really sunk in. I passed my neighbour the other day and had a chuckle to myself thinking I bet they don’t realise they are now living next door to millionaires.”
Like so many of us dream of, the couple intend to go on a holiday to the Seychelles as well as treat their eight grandchildren to a Christmas they will not forget.
