888 Holdings Subsidiary Challenges Legal Ruling In Germany
The German online gambling market is considered one of the most lucrative for operators but the legal uncertainty in the last few years has resulted in major companies like Novomatic and Merkur Gaming halting online gambling.
In the latest development it has been confirmed that a subsidiary of the Gibraltar based 888 Holdings has filed a complaint with the German Federal Constitutional Court over a legal case involving a ruling by the German Federal Administrative Court. The ruling upheld the ban on offering online gambling services in the star of Baden-Wurttemberg.
In their arguments to the court 888 claim that the ruling infringes its constitutional rights in that it breaches rights under European Law that include the freedom to provide services. As a result of this infringement 888 are asking that the ruling banning online gambling be reversed.
In a statement they said,” The company will continue to closely monitor the legal and regulatory developments in Germany and their implications on the status and of its offerings in this market.”
